Bukit Lawang means “gate to the mountains”, which is truly the image you get when you walk through the little village at the beautiful riverbank of Sungai Bahorok. Behind the cute little restaurants and guesthouses loom the densly wooded mountains of Gunung Leuser National Park with their dark green rainforest. The one thing you shouldn’t miss when you are in the Indonesian village Bukit Lawang is one of our adventures jungle treks to see the endangered Sumatran Orangutan and so much more wildlife.
