After breakfast, around 9 am, your Jungle Guide will pick you up at your guesthouse in Bukit Lawang. Nevertheless, according to your wishes it’s possible to start the trekking tour earlier.
On the way to the entrance of Gunung Leuser National Park you will go uphill for a few minutes and cross small rubber plantations until the special sound of cicadas and jungle voices welcome you in the rainforest. Let this unique atmosphere sink in and leave the everyday life behind you.
Here you will have a good chance to spot semi-wild Orangutans, the lovely Thomas Leaf Monkeys, Pig Tail Macaques and many other rainforest inhabitants. Walk through this amazing scenery for a few hours and have a tropical fruit snack while resting on the buttress roots of the tropical giant trees. Now, hike up to an unforgettable viewpoint from where you can overlook the entire valley of the Bohorok River on the one hand and the mountains of Gunung Leuser National Park on the other hand.
Restore your energy during a delicious lunch of homemade Nasi Goring before you start the last stage of your hike through the flora and fauna of North Sumatra’s rainforest.
At the end of the trek, you can refresh yourself in the cold and crystal-clear water of Bohorok River and let your Jungle Guide bring you back to your guesthouse in Bukit Lawang by our famous and fun “jungle taxi” which consists of big rubber tires knotted as a boat.
